Katie Staal

Editor in Chief

image1 (2)Katie graduated from her MA in English Literature in 2015 after specialising in Feminist Literature; specifically Eighteenth Century labouring class women’s poetry. Her dissertation on women, work and rebellion earnt her the Blackwell’s Prize for MA in English.

Her particular areas of interest include sexuality, identity, politics, relationships, reproductive and sexual rights, popular culture, women in the workplace and the media.

Katie took over as Editor in Chief of Gender and the City in June 2017. In this position, she is responsible for the publications and policies of the website, the acceptance of articles and the initial quality checking and scheduling of new submissions.

Katie works in London for an academic publisher, supporting a list of humanities and social sciences journals, including the Feminist Review.

Along with her passion for writing and editing, Katie is also a songwriter, guitarist, vegan and avid record collector.
